What changed

Every version of Axion, newest first, in the same words the app shows you after it updates.

Axion 1.10.0 Latest

· engine 5.13

  • NewAfter a Boost, Axion checks every change it made. If a tweak did not stick, Axion undoes it, and the Tweaks page shows each tweak as Verified, After restart or Undone.
  • New"Why your FPS is low": the health check now tells you how many checks look right, which part of your PC holds you back, and what to fix first. It also spots a laptop running on battery and an old Windows version.
  • NewA Recovery page with every way back in one place: undo everything, undo one tweak, Live Boost sessions, and System Restore.
  • NewLive Boost can keep your game on its own CPU cores. It is off until you turn it on, it asks first, and it never runs for Riot games.
  • NewLive Boost now tells you which overlays are drawing over your game, where to switch each one off, and which unknown programs are busy while you play.
  • NewA creator panel where creators see their code and their sales.
  • ImprovedLive Boost pauses RGB and wallpaper apps while you play instead of closing them, so they carry on exactly where they were. Apps that run your fans are still closed, so your motherboard controls the fans.
  • Improved56 old tweaks we could not measure any effect from are now in a Legacy group. They are off unless you turn one on, and they are not counted, so the app and the website now say 37 tweaks.
  • Improved"Read more" on a tweak says how sure we are that it works and how it works, instead of a percentage nobody measured on your PC.
  • ImprovedThe Counter-Strike 2 graphics tweak now changes shadows, texture detail, particles and ambient occlusion too. It never touches Dynamic Shadows, because those show players around corners.
  • ImprovedIf a game puts its own settings back when it starts, Axion notices and says it was the game, not Windows.
  • ImprovedLive Boost pauses Windows Update properly for the whole game, and empties the standby memory during the game when memory runs low, not only at the start.
  • ImprovedCreator codes give 20% off.
  • Fixed9 tweaks that could make a PC slower, less stable or less safe are gone. The Spectre and Meltdown tweak now only runs on old CPUs and no longer turns off other protections.
  • FixedMemory Integrity and the Spectre tweak are blocked when Valorant or League of Legends is installed, whichever launcher installed it.
  • FixedThe Unreal Engine tweaks no longer write to Valorant's settings, and no longer try settings Fortnite ignores.
  • FixedA telemetry tweak also switched off Storage Sense and drive optimization. Axion no longer does, and turns them back on where it had switched them off.
  • FixedHealth check findings no longer show guessed percentages.

  • NewCreator applications go to Axion's own admin page instead of a form nobody read, and you can give more than one link to where you post.
  • ImprovedEverything in the app and on the website is written in plainer English. Shorter sentences, everyday words, and no jargon where a normal word does the job. Nothing it says it does has changed, only how it says it.
  • ImprovedThe app is quicker to draw. A full repaint of a large window went from 22 ms to 17 ms on the overview, and from 19 ms to 13 ms in the Toolbox, so the window keeps up while a graph or a toggle moves.
  • ImprovedThe Live Boost screen looks the way it was meant to: the game's art behind the card is a smooth wash instead of a grid of squares, and the card now says how many changes are switched on for that game.
  • ImprovedThe website runs at full speed again. Scrolling the home page went from 36 to 60 frames a second, and its worst frame from 50 ms to 17 ms.
  • ImprovedThe patch notes page is one line per change, with the older releases folded away and a list of versions you can jump to.
  • FixedThe creator program said 10% off in one place and 20% in another. It is 10%, and the number now comes from the same file as every other price.
  • FixedThe Resources menu on the website sat a line higher than the links next to it.

  • NewGuides, the questions page and support are one button away in Settings > About. They open the website, so the help is written in one place and never says two different things.
  • ImprovedEvery button and section has its own icon. Sign out, Export, Import, the four Toolbox tests, the fixes, the presets and the change history each had a drawing that already meant something else somewhere in the app.
  • ImprovedThe website shows the whole app, not only the tweak list: Live Boost, the health check, the watchdog, Debloat, the Toolbox and the presets each have a card that says which plan has them. The cards are built from the same file the app's Upgrade screen reads.
  • FixedThe Resources menu on the website sat a line higher than the links beside it, in a brighter colour. It sits with them now.

  • NewPatch notes on the website: every release, in plain language, built from the same file the app reads. Nothing can say one thing in the app and another on the site.
  • New"What's new" in the app after an update. It shows the notes for the version you just got, once, and there is a button in Settings > About if you want to read them again.
  • NewA BIOS guide page: the settings worth turning on (memory speed, Resizable BAR, Secure Boot, TPM, virtualization), with the menu name and the path for ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and ASRock boards. The names come from the same table the health check uses, so the site and the app tell you the same thing.
  • NewA questions page that answers what people actually ask before buying: what it does, what it does not do, anti-cheat, refunds, and what happens if you stop using it.
  • NewA creator program. You get a code, your viewers get 20% off, and your sales and what you have earned are on your account page. Sales are counted by Stripe when the payment goes through, so the number cannot drift.
  • NewA Resources menu in the site header, so the guides, questions and patch notes are one click from any page.
  • ImprovedSupport now lists the Discord as well as the email, for when a question is faster asked than written.
  • ImprovedThe checkout page has a field for a creator's code. The discount is Stripe's own, so Axion never has to hold a code or a price of its own.
  • FixedThree files had mixed line endings after earlier edits, which made some editors show the whole file as changed. They are one kind again.

  • NewAn Upgrade screen in the app: the same comparison the website shows, the same four reasons, the same price, read from the same file. It is a page you open, not a popup that interrupts you.
  • NewThe pricing page has a full comparison table, built from the same file the app reads, with the tweak counts coming from the engine's own registry.
  • New"What Axion does differently": eight facts about this tool. No competitor is named, because the list stands on its own.
  • NewA "Real results" section that stays hidden until there is a measured run with the hardware, the settings, the length and the method recorded with it. The same goes for the "Tested with" strip: it appears when there is enough to show honestly.
  • NewA longer set of questions before buying: refunds, anti-cheat, undoing, Windows 10 or 11, and laptops.
  • ImprovedGet Premium in the app now opens the Upgrade screen, where everything is explained, instead of sending you straight to a browser. The buy button there still goes to the website.

  • NewFour presets on the Optimize page. Safe is everything with no trade-off. Competitive adds the latency set. Laptop leaves out everything that trades heat or battery for speed. Max includes the security trade-offs. A preset only ticks boxes: Boost still previews, still asks about anything with a cost, and still records every change.
  • NewShare your setup as an .axion file, and load someone else's. It carries tweak ids and Live Boost settings -- no account, no paths, no games, nothing about your PC -- so a creator can put one next to their code without publishing their machine.
  • NewA profile that names settings this version of Axion does not have has those dropped and counted, and importing one never applies anything: you still press Boost.

  • NewSix new tweaks, which takes Axion to 102. USB power saving off for keyboards and mice only, so the first click after a quiet moment does not wait for the device to wake.
  • NewNetBIOS over TCP/IP off: a naming protocol from before DNS that still broadcasts on your network. It asks first, because an old file share found by name may need its IP address instead.
  • NewAdapter power saving and Energy Efficient Ethernet off, on wired adapters, one property at a time with the value your driver had recorded first. Off until you turn it on.
  • NewMSI interrupts for the network adapter, the same setting Axion already writes for the graphics card. Off until you turn it on, and it says what it costs.
  • NewTeams and OneDrive no longer start with Windows. Both still work when you open them.
  • NewNo manufacturer software with new devices: Windows stops installing a vendor app when you plug in a mouse, a headset or a controller. Drivers still install.
  • ImprovedUndo one run: Axion can now put back exactly one boost instead of everything, which is also how the new tweaks were tested.

  • NewA Toolbox page. Connection test: round trips to your router and to the big public endpoints, with the average, the jitter from one reply to the next (which is what a match actually feels) and how many replies never came back. Add your game server's own address to measure that too.
  • NewBufferbloat test: your ping with the line quiet, then again while it is full, and the difference between them. That difference is your ping in a match while something else downloads. It is the one test here that uses the internet, and it says so and names the address before it runs.
  • NewDNS benchmark: every resolver asked the same names a gaming PC looks up, with one click to switch to the fastest. Your own servers are recorded first, so Revert all puts them back -- which matters on a school or office network.
  • NewAdapter tuner: the settings your network driver exposes, one at a time, with what each one costs. A driver that exposes none of them says so instead of pretending.
  • NewFixes: flush the DNS cache, reset Winsock, repair the Xbox and Game Pass services, restore Windows Update after debloating went too far, and a Valorant check that reads what Vanguard actually requires.
  • NewCleaner: what each cache is holding, measured before anything is deleted. Shader caches are listed but left unticked, because clearing them costs the one-time stutter people clear them to fix.
  • NewMouse polling test: move the mouse in the box and Axion counts how many separate movements Windows delivered.
  • ImprovedAdapter settings and DNS servers are now recorded by the engine like any tweak, with the exact value your driver had, so Revert all covers them.

  • NewDebloat has five new tabs. Startup lists everything that starts with Windows -- the Run keys, both Startup folders and the scheduled tasks that run when you sign in -- with who signed each one and what it is using right now.
  • NewServices shows Axion's own service catalogue with the reason each one is safe to switch off on your PC, or why it is not: "this PC has a working Bluetooth radio", "a printer is installed". Basic and Advanced presets apply the safe ones in one go.
  • NewScheduled tasks lists the telemetry, customer experience and OEM updater jobs Axion knows about, and switches them off without deleting them.
  • NewWindows apps lists the apps Windows came with. The Store, the Xbox components, Game Bar, the Calculator, Photos and the media codecs are protected, and anything you remove shows the Store link to put it back.
  • NewLeftovers is the quarantine: what uninstalling left behind, still restorable, with the date and how much space it holds.
  • NewRecommended debloat: Axion works out what is worth switching off on this PC and names every item before anything happens. Free accounts see the whole list; Premium applies it in one go, and every item in it stays free on its own.
  • NewA debloat result card that measures the same three things before and after -- processes, memory in use and how many things start with Windows -- so the difference is measured, not claimed.
  • ImprovedEvery change these tabs make goes through the engine, which means it is written to Axion's backup before it happens and Revert all undoes it exactly like a tweak.
  • ImprovedStartup impact says what Axion can actually measure. Windows' own "startup impact" comes from boot traces with no way to read them, so Axion does not print a number it cannot stand behind.

  • NewThe health check has a page of its own, and it is free. Everything it finds is grouped by what you can do about it: what Windows can fix, what your motherboard's setup screen can fix, and what is already fine.
  • NewNew checks: the graphics card's PCIe link (width and speed, and it says plainly that a low speed on the desktop is just the card idling), Resizable BAR, Memory Integrity, Game Mode, free space on the system drive, a restart Windows is waiting for, Secure Boot, the TPM, CPU virtualization, UEFI or legacy boot, and your motherboard model.
  • NewBIOS settings come with the name your board's own menu uses and the path to it, for ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte and ASRock, with a generic path for other boards. Axion never writes to firmware.
  • New"Restart into BIOS" takes you straight to that screen, after a confirmation that lists the settings worth changing while you are there. When you come back, Axion checks again by itself and says what changed.
  • NewSecure Boot, the TPM and virtualization are marked "keep this on": they are what anti-cheat expects, and Axion will not turn them off.
  • ImprovedOverview's health card now summarises the last check and links to the page, so there is one place the results live.
  • ImprovedAn antivirus that registers three components is listed once, not three times.

  • NewWatchdog. Windows Update and graphics driver installs quietly put some of Axion's settings back, and until now nothing told you: the frames just went away again. Axion now compares every change in its own backups against your PC, on launch and whenever the Windows build or the graphics driver has changed since the last check. If anything was undone, Overview says which tweaks and offers to put them back -- with a restore point first, like any other boost. The check only reads.
  • NewNew tweak: stop Windows Update replacing your graphics driver. It asks first, because it means you install graphics, chipset and audio drivers yourself from now on.
  • ImprovedA value that is set to something neither Axion nor Windows chose is reported as exactly that, and left alone.
  • ImprovedReverting everything now clears the "boosted" mark, so a revert you asked for is never reported back to you as Windows undoing your tweaks.

  • NewLive Boost has a page of its own, with your games on it. Axion finds what you have installed through Steam, Epic, Riot, Battle.net, EA and the Xbox app, and shows each game's own cover art from your launcher's cache. Nothing is downloaded, and you can point Axion at any .exe yourself.
  • NewArm Live Boost and it waits in the tray. Windows tells Axion the moment your game starts, so it costs nothing while you wait, and the moment you close the game everything it changed goes back.
  • NewPick what Live Boost does, per game: give the game CPU priority, stop Windows throttling it, close heavy background apps and start them again afterwards, pause Windows Update, Search and OneDrive, go to full power, hold the system timer at 0.5 ms, block the Windows key, turn off the Sticky Keys popups, turn on Do Not Disturb, pin the game to the dedicated graphics card, free cached memory when RAM runs low, and mark the game's traffic as urgent.
  • NewA session report when you stop playing: how long you played, what was closed and started again, how much memory came back, and every change that was put back. It can be saved as a share card, and there is a chart of your past sessions per game.
  • NewIf Axion is killed or the PC loses power mid-session, the next launch finds the session journal, puts everything back and says so.
  • ImprovedOverview's Live Boost card is now a status tile: what it is doing right now, and the way to the page.
  • ImprovedThe tray menu can stop Live Boost without opening the window, and Axion goes to the tray by itself when your game comes to the front.

  • NewTweaks are grouped in a way that says what they cost you: the old Extreme group is now Latency (advanced), for settings that trade heat and power for speed, and Security trade-offs, for the few that turn a Windows protection off. Both are off until you turn them on, and each says what it costs first.
  • ImprovedAxion's backups and logs moved from C:\ProgramData\BaselineOptimizer to C:\ProgramData\Axion. Everything already there is moved with them, and anything left behind is still read from the old folder, so Revert all keeps working.
  • ImprovedThe dashboard now samples your PC once every five seconds instead of every second while the window is hidden or a game is in front, so Axion stays out of the way while you play.
  • ImprovedEvery tweak count in the app and on the website is now read from the engine itself, so the number you see is the number Axion actually has.
  • FixedMessages at the bottom of the window landed on top of each other when two arrived at once, and long ones could be cut off by their own box. They now stack, and each one is measured for the text it holds.
  • FixedAn account with no profile picture showed an empty circle. It now shows the initials from the account name.
